Boynton Angels is a group of active investors from a diverse set of backgrounds interested in investing in technology-based businesses within a 2-hour drive of Worcester, Massachusetts. We generally look for preferred equity investments and hope to see an attractive return on our investment in a 5 to 7-year period. We typically consider investments between $100,000 and $500,000; we also syndicate deals with other angel groups and will invest alongside private investors or venture capital firms.

We look for early stage businesses (initial intoduction of product or service) that can realistically see their way to profitability within a 12- to 18-month timeframe. Our investment interests and criteria include:

• Medical devices, Life Sciences (Not Pharmaceuticals), energy, telecommunications, materials and software


• Location within a 2 hour radius of Central Massachusetts (Worcester)


• Seeking no more than $2M with minimal follow-on funding


• 5-7 Years to liquidity with the potential to generate a strong ROI


• Clear Market Need and Value Proposition


• Exceptional Management with Domain Experience


• Strong Intellectual Property Position


• Preferred Stock

A Screening Committee reviews non-confidential executive summaries each month. Upon approval by that committee, the entrepreneurial team is invited to present to the Boynton Angel members at a monthly meeting. Individual members make individual investment decisions. The due diligence process and term sheet negotiation is performed by a “deal captain” who is chosen from the group of interested investors, on behalf of the entire group.
